Throughout this Privacy Policy the terms "Electrolux", "we", "our" and "us" refers to Electrolux Home Products Pty Limited and each of its related bodies corporate including Electrolux Pty Limited and Electrolux Home Products (NZ) Limited. We are the Australian and New Zealand subsidiaries of The Electrolux Group, the world's largest producer of powered appliances for kitchen, cleaning and outdoor use, including products such as refrigerators, washing machines, cookers, vacuum cleaners, chainsaws, lawnmowers and garden equipment. Every year customers in more than 150 countries buy more than 55 million Electrolux Group products for both consumer and professional use. Our commitment to your privacy

This Privacy Policy is effective from 21st December 2001. Electrolux is committed to protecting your privacy and to handling your personal information in a responsible manner consistent with the National Privacy Principles introduced under new sections of the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988. The National Privacy Principles detail the minimum standards to which a private sector organisation must adhere when handling your personal information. Electrolux is committed to ensuring compliance with the National Privacy Principles. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and disclose your personal information.

How we collect personal information

Electrolux collects your personal information in a number of ways including over the telephone, in person at one of our offices, via the Internet when you choose to contact us online, or through a written application for information about one of the products or services we make available or which we may promote. Generally, the personal information we collect and store about you consists of your name, address, gender and contact details including your telephone and facsimile numbers and, where appropriate, your e-mail address. It is also possible that where you make an application for information about a specific product or service we may also collect information from you that relates to that particular product or service.

It is not our policy to collect sensitive information about you. However, in the event that we are required to do so we will collect sensitive information in accordance with the National Privacy Principles.

Whenever possible we collect your personal information directly from you. However, there will be some occasions when we collect personal information about you from a third party, for example, from a retailer or from a third party service provider. We may also collect information from you about somebody else, for example, if you make an application for a product or service in joint names or if you want the benefit of that product or service to apply to someone else. However, if you provide personal information about somebody else you are responsible for advising the other person that you have given us information about them. It is your responsibility to let them know about Electrolux, the information you have given to us, and the fact that they will be able to access that information. We would suggest that you advise any such person of the provisions of this Privacy Policy.

Irrespective of the source of the information we collect we will respect and protect the privacy of all personal information in accordance with the National Privacy Principles.

When we disclose your personal information

Electrolux may disclose your personal information to organisations outside of The Electrolux Group. These disclosures are made subject to suitable protection for privacy and confidentiality being in place.

Electrolux takes great care to protect your privacy. Any personal information provided to us that may be held in our computer systems is securely protected. Access to our computer systems is protected by a number of firewall security systems to prevent unauthorised access. In addition, any information stored on Electrolux's computer systems is protected from unauthorised access by the use of a number of security procedures including user passwords. All of our personnel are trained in the use of our security procedures.

Where we hold records of your personal information on paper we maintain appropriate security procedures to protect the use and storage of such records.

All of our personnel are handle personal information in accordance with the National Privacy Principles and the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.

Accuracy of your personal information

Electrolux takes all reasonable steps to ensure that any personal information we collect, disclose and use is as up to date as possible. It is important that you advise us of any changes to your personal information or if there are any errors in the personal information we are holding about you.

Access to your personal information

Subject to certain exceptions allowed by law everyone who has provided personal information has the right to access that personal information. For security reasons you will be required to put any request for access to your personal information into writing. Electrolux will make a charge of $25 for the retrieval of personal information in order to cover our administration costs.
