Banging noise / noisy in spin
Are the transport rods and / or packing removed? Remove transport rods from the back of the machine and packing from under the machine.
Banging noise when filling
Water hammer when the water valves close. Not a product fault. Water pipes are moving in the wall. You can try and turn down water at house supply tap. Fit anti hammer device available from plumbing supplies and hardware stores or have a plumber fit a pressure reducing device.
Scraping noise
Bra wire caught in drum holes. Look and feel for bra wire and if found remove with a pair of pliers.
Rattling noise in wash
Foreign object in drum eg coin, screw etc. Remove object.
Noisy when filling
Tap or valve whistling due to water pressure. Close the tap a little bit.
Burning smell
Too many suds causing motor to overheat. Use less detergent. If doing another load allow 20 minutes before starting to let motor cool down. Use only a low suds detergent suitable for front loaders.
Clothes too hard
Too much detergent being used and not fully rinsing out. Clothes go hard once dry. Use less detergent. To remove excess detergent from clothes, wash without detergent and use a water softener eg Calgon. Use only a low suds detergent suitable for front loaders.

Clothes over dried on line or in dryer. Shorten drying time.
Clothes wet at end of program
Pump blocked not allowing all the water to drain. Clean out pump guard.

Outlet / drain hose kinked not allowing all the water to be pumped out. Check for kinked hoses.

Too many suds causing motor to overheat. There may be a burning smell as well. Use less detergent. If doing another load allow 20 minutes before starting to let motor cool down.

Machine overloaded causing motor to overheat. There may be a burning smell as well. Reduce the size of the load. If doing another load allow 20 minutes before starting to let motor cool down.
Conditioner has not dispensed - conditioner still in detergent drawer
Cap in conditioner compartment requires cleaning. The conditioner is dispensed via a syphoning action so if builds up occurs under the cap syphoning will not work. Remove cap and clean as per instruction book.
Cycle / program taking too long
Filters blocked slowing the water entry. Machine will take longer than normal to fill. Clean filters in the inlet hoses.

Out of balance load. The washing machine may be trying to re-balance the load. This will increase the cycle time, resulting in a longer cycle than normal.

Inlet hose kinked slowing the water entry. Machine will take longer than normal to fill. Unkink hose.

Pump blocked not allowing the water to drain quick enough. Clean out pump guard.

Compared to top load washers program times are longer. Times are longer to allow wash loads to be washed to the same or better standard than top load machines using less water, making them more efficient.
Dirty wash - stains
Not enough or no detergent. Check amount of detergent used and rewash clothes accordingly.

Too many clothes in load. Remove some clothes and rewash.

Incorrect wash program or temperature selected. Reselect program and or temperature and rewash clothes.
Door will not open / can't open door
All front load washers have a safety lock on the door which will not allow the door to be opened during the cycle. Some only lock when the water is too high or too hot. When the program has finished it may take up to 2 minutes for the safety lock to reset before the door can be opened. If you want to open the door during the wash program refer to the user manual.
Filling and emptying immediately - not commencing cycle
If outlet hose is lower than the water level on machine the water will continue to syphon / run out of hose on fill cycle. Move hose to top of the machine. Refer to user manual.
Lint on clothes
Mixed load. Refer to user manual for the correct procedure for sorting loads.
Not advancing - will not finish program
If outlet hose is lower than the water level on machine the water will continue to syphon / run out of hose on fill cycle. Move hose to top of the machine. Refer to user manual.

Out of balance load. The washing machine may be trying to re-balance the load. This will increase the cycle time, resulting in a longer cycle than normal.
Not draining - before final spin
Drip dry option selected (if available). Change wash option.
Not draining / draining slow
Pump blocked not allowing all the water to drain. Clean out pump guard.

Pump suds lock caused by too many suds. Pause the program and let the machine sit for a while until suds subside then restart the program. Reduce the amount of detergent being used.

Drain hose kinked. Adjust hose.
Not filling
Program not set to start of wash program. Turn program knob to start of wash cycle.

Filters blocked. Clean filters in the inlet hoses.

Inlet hose kinked. Unkink hose.

Make sure taps are turned on.

Door not closed fully. Close door firmly.
Not Filling - models with 2 inlet hoses
Hoses crossed over and on wrong taps. Connect hoses to correct taps.
Cannot see water in washing machine
It is not always possible to see the water in new water efficient front loaders when there is a load in the drum. On some programs the water level is below the level of the door so cannot be seen when the machine is loaded.
Not filling - water escaping without commencing wash
If outlet hose is lower than the water level on machine the water will continue to syphon / run out of hose on fill cycle. Move hose to top of the machine. Refer to user manual.
Not spinning
Too many suds causing motor to overheat. There may be a burning smell as well. Use less detergent. If doing another load allow 20 minutes before starting to let motor cool down.

Machine overloaded causing motor to overheat. There may be a burning smell as well. Reduce the size of the load. If doing another load allow 20 minutes before starting to let motor cool down.

Water not drained. The machine will not spin unless it is empty. Check the pump for blockages and drain hose for kinks etc.

Door not closed. Ensure door is closed.
Not washing - not tumbling
Too many suds causing motor to overheat. There may be a burning smell as well. Use less detergent. If doing another load allow 20 minutes before starting to let motor cool down.

Machine overloaded causing motor to overheat. There may be a burning smell as well. Reduce the size of the load. If doing another load allow 20 minutes before starting to let motor cool down.

Door not closed. Ensure door is closed.

Program in soak period (if applicable). Wait until soak period finished. If washer is electronic, machine may have a programmable soak period. Cancel soak period.
Not working - not commencing cycle
Power not switched on. Check power point.

No electricity supply through the power point. Check power supply with a small appliance that you know works.

Ensure water taps are turned on.

Ensure machine power button has been switched on.

Delay start may be set (if available). Cancel delay start.
Too many suds / bubbles
Wrong detergent used. Use a low suds detergent suitable for front loaders.

Too much detergent used. Use no more than the recommended amount. This is especially important with concentrates.

Soft water supply. Reduce the amount of detergent.
Vibrating - moving across floor
Machine not level. Adjust levelling legs.

Are the transport rods and / or packing removed? Remove transport rods from the back of the machine and packing from under the machine.

Floor too slippery eg high gloss tiles. Contact Spare Parts on 13 13 50 and request Non Slip Discs (Part Nº 8000777477).

Machine is installed on an unstable floor eg wooden floor. Move the machine to a more stable location or have the floor modified.
Discoloured door gasket / seal
Body oils / fats or dirt residue. Clean with warm soapy water.
Mouldy door gasket / seal
Gasket not wiped dry. The gasket should be wiped dry at the end of each wash day.

Water / bubbles coming out detergent drawer - detergent drawer leaking
Water pressure too high. Turn back the tap.
Water coming out detergent drawer - detergent drawer leaking
Wrong or too much detergent causing too many suds which then come out of the detergent drawer. Use no more than the recommended dose of a suitable front load washer detergent.
Water on floor - flooding / leaking
Loose inlet hose connections or washers / filters missing. Check connections at taps and at rear of machine.

Tap leaking - water runs down the hose to look like the hose is leaking. Check and fix tap.

Pump guard cap not on properly or not on tight enough. Refit cap correctly.
